Team Innova Ambassador Michelle Jones has created what we believe to be the first kids disc golf book. “Gracie and the Marvelous Metal Basket” tells the story of Gracie the cat and her first experience with disc golf. The story unfolds as Gracie and her animal friends guess what this “structure of metal and chain” could be.
The rhymes flow in a sing-song sort of way, reminding us of a typical children’s book modeled after Dr. Suess. The illustrations, also done by Michelle, are colorful and fun enough to catch a child’s attention yet basic enough to avoid distraction. The story is fun and somewhat corny, just like many other great children’s classics. In my estimation, the book is readable by 1st and 2nd graders aside from a few words they will have to learn.
My five year old daughter has enjoyed hearing the book. She likes the other animals and their interpretation of the basket. If you have a young child, “Gracie and the Marvelous Metal Basket” is a fun bedtime story and well worth the small investment. Infinite Discs has a few copies available and Amazon has both the paperback and the digital version available. If you order from Infinite Discs, maybe it’s a good time to get a Junior Judge or Mini Buzzz for your child too!
